Berrien County Schools would like to inform our families and community that Berrien Primary School was struck by lightning this afternoon, resulting in a fire at the school.
Fortunately, the incident occurred after school hours, and no students or staff were injured.
District leadership is on site and is working closely with local fire, emergency and public safety officials to assess the extent of the damage and determine the next steps.
The safety of our students and staff remains our highest priority. We will communicate directly with parents and the community as soon as additional information is available, including any changes or plans that may affect school on Monday.
We are grateful to our local first responders for their quick response and assistance. We appreciate the patience and support of our families and community as we work through this situation.
